About

Welcome.

Whether you're planning your days, following a new idea, working toward a dream, documenting the everyday, remembering good times, crafting a gift, or simply figuring out what feels right right now, I hope you find something here that gives you more space to create it, more pretties to decorate it, or more inspiration to develop it. Or all three!

A bit of history about Moonsteam Studio is on the way. For now, the TL;DR version is that I've been creating under the "Moonsteam" name since about 2009-ish, first on Etsy then via my own websites (I can't not have websites; it's in my blood). Moonsteam Studio first began as Moonsteam Design Studio, so you might still see a files with that full name. I'm still on Etsy, too, which you can visit here.

Why "Moonsteam?"

Years ago, when I was dreaming up names for a creative business, I came up with the word "Moonsteam."

It made me think of being awake late at night, running on the steam of your own ideas.

I've always loved that feeling, when an idea wanders in and suddenly you're following it somewhere unexpected. Following white rabbits. (Huge Matrix fan here.) (The original. I tolerate the 2nd. I ignore the others. 😂)

That's the spirit I want Moonsteam Studio to have.

A little structure.

A lot of possibility.

A place for ideas to wander.

About me

I’m Sara, a long-time web & graphic designer who also had a stint in academia; I have an MA in English Literature and taught college writing & lit for many years (before & after that I worked in publishing & design). I’ve been a “solopreneur” for ages now doing web & graphic design & couldn’t be happier. I’m an utter technophile who has been making websites since 1997 & loves staying up too late reading or playing video games, but I'm also a total homebody who loves binge watching Downton Abbey, rewatching Pride & Prejudice (the Colin Firth version, of course!), and curling up with a good book or five (I love Fourth Wing, Lockwood & Co, A Discovery of Witches, Outlander, Wheel of Time, Neuromancer, Snow Crash...and hundreds more). I’ve been blogging since “web logs” first came on the scene (anyone remember Moveable Type?). I love being on my computers & being inspired every day...and I hope my creations here help inspire you a little bit, too.

XO,
Sara of Moonsteam Studio
